OIFF 2024 SCHEDULE

The wait is over – the schedule for the fifth annual Ouray International Film Festival is now live! Explore each day’s itinerary to decide which day pass you want to purchase (though full festival passes remain on sale while supplies last.)

Thursday

Pass holders can check in on Thursday (June 20) from 1-3 pm at the Wright Opera House. Claim your lanyard, peruse the program, and meet with artists before the opening block of shorts films including the premiere of scholar-in-residence James Choi’s film Resonancia

At 7:00 pm, we return to the Opera House for a surprise screening and award ceremony for this year’s Director’s Spotlight Winner. Check back soon when we reveal the film and the artist! The special screening will be followed by a reception with lite bites and beverages in the Wright’s elegant Tavern downstairs.

Friday

Shorts Block B kicks off Day 2 in the morning with Native voices, experimental animation, and narrative shorts. Stick around for a Q&A with filmmakers, grab lunch in Ouray (and a quick soak in the hot springs), then join us for a special panel discussion about the art of producing films with award-winning filmmakers like Ben Weissner, Choi, and more.

A special reception on the rooftop of Citizens State Bank will be open to the first 50 attendees from 4-5 pm. Later that night, we’ll return to the Wright Opera House for another round of short films from Peru to the United Kingdom. Keep the conversation going with filmmakers as you head to Fellin Park for a slate of outdoor films under the stars. The program includes SAR: Search and Rescue which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Ouray Mountain Rescue Team. Be sure to catch some live music before the screening from Brother and the Hayes.

Saturday

Day 3 begins with the international premiere of a secret film from a longtime friend of the festival! The Q&A after the screening will include filmmakers from Friday’s nights movies in the park, too, including representatives from Ouray Mountain Rescue Team.

At 1:30, the festival will host a block of Ukrainian cinema supported generously by The Telluride Foundation. Last year, Ukrainian filmmaker Maria Pankova took OIFF 2023 by storm with her stirring wartime documentary “Breathing.” Now she’s back with her latest documentary, and she has joined OIFF as a guest curator of this special block of films representing contemporary Ukrainian cinema. The Q&A also includes Jordan Campbell, journalist and filmmaker living in Western Colorado with sustained experience on the front lines in Ukraine.

Another surprise block begins at 4:30 (and it’s not to be missed–mark this one on your calendar). Then, patron pass holders head to a private home for a first-ever live event in the history of OIFF.

But that’s not the last “first” for Day 3. At 10:30 pm, join us back at the Wright for our first live performance as Artist-in-Residence H.P. Mendoza (The Secret Art of Human Flight, OIFF 2023) sings and performs with special guests alongside his award-winning visual album Attack, Decay, Release. It’s a rare opportunity to see this musical-film hybrid performance that has only played at a select list of festivals! Come ready to dance.

Sunday

The final day begins with The Green Flash, a feature-film years in the making with both directors in attendance from Spain and Atlanta, Georgia. A final pair of shorts blocks brings you stories from around the world in every genre with a large slate of attending filmmakers present to discuss their work. The night ends with our annual awards ceremony with jury-selected prizes distributed in ten categories. For patron pass holders, artists, and sponsors, the night continues at our annual wrap party at KJ Wood Distillers.

Can’t make the whole festival? Buy a day pass for any day of the festival. Or purchase your full pass now for the full experience.
