ANNOUNCING THE “OIFF AWARDS RETROSPECTIVE”
DHAULAGIRI - JANUARY 10th @ THE WRIGHT OPERA HOUSE (7 pm)
We are thrilled to announce a new program! Starting January 10th at the Wright Opera House, OIFF will launch its first monthly screening of a film (or collection of short films) that received an award at one of our past summer film festivals.
Some of these films were audience favorites or documentaries that pushed technical boundaries; others showcased powerful performances that took home acting prizes over the years. These films represent the very best of the cinema that we’ve shared with audiences over the last four years, and we are eager to give the public a new opportunity to watch (or rewatch) these amazing movies through this monthly screening series in Ouray, Colorado.
Each of these screenings events will end with an exclusive pre-recorded interview between the film’s director and our festival leadership. In some cases, you’ll hear from actors and other members of the film’s team as well.
Our inaugural screening will feature the documentary Dhaulagiri, a visually stunning journey to the dangerous summit of one of the Himilaya’s most formidable peaks. The film was made by Colorado-based filmmaker Tommy Joyce who you’ll hear from after the film. Joyce took home the prize for Best Cinematography at OIFF 2022.
Tickets for these events are just five dollars! Check back here for more announcements and surprises about the films and special guests featured at each screening:
